Athletic Therapy

Certified Athletic Therapists are best known for their quick thinking on-field emergency care. They are the first to respond when someone gets hurt, and are experts at injury assessment and rehabilitation. It's that same mix of on-site care and active rehabilitation skills that makes Athletic Therapists so effective in treating the musculoskeletal (bones, muscles, and joints) injuries of all Canadians whether it be on the field or in the clinic.

Athletic Therapists don’t only assess athletes or sports-related injuries. We can also help assess and rehabilitate pains and strains from any activity! Whether it be from walking the dog or shoveling your driveway, we’re here to help get you back out there.

Massage Therapy

Massage therapy is the manipulation of soft tissues of the body including muscles, connective tissues, tendons, ligaments, and joints. It is a clinically oriented healthcare option that helps alleviate the discomfort associated with everyday physical or emotional stresses, muscular overuse, and many chronic pain conditions.

Myofascial Cupping

Graston Technique; Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM)

Myofascial cupping or "cupping" is an ancient Chinese practice, in which plastic or silicone cups are applied to the body. The air pressure in the cup is then reduced by either compression of the cups, or by suction, in order to separate superficial muscle tissues and fascia inside the cup. Sometimes, while the suction is active the cup is moved, causing the skin and muscle to be pulled. This is called "gliding cupping". Cupping is applied to certain parts of the body that have been affected by pain or muscle/fascial tightness. The cupping process separates the fascial tissue to allow for an increase in circulation to the affected area. This process then provides the tissue with oxygen and other nutrients, and assists in the healing process.

The Graston Technique is a variation of cross fiber friction or transverse friction massage which is delivered by the use of a variety of stainless-steel tools with various sizes, contours and edges to deliver an effective means of manual therapy. These instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization techniques enable the treatment of scar tissue and fascial restrictions during rehabilitation that allows for faster treatment and with greater success when the goal is restoring range of motion, eliminating pain, and restoring normal function. The use of these stainless-steel tools are used to accelerate recovery time which will allow your treatment time to be minimized.
