Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer direct billing?

Yes! We currently offer direct billing to Manitoba Blue Cross for Athletic Therapy and Massage Therapy.

What should I wear?

Wear what you feel comfortable in. Depending on your injury, you may want to consider bringing a pair of shorts, tank top or some runners!

Do I need to get completely undressed?

Nope! During an injury assessment it may be easier to assess and treat an injury while wearing a tank top/sports bra or be shirtless.  However, if you're not comfortable getting to this level of undress, you don't have to. We'll work with what you're comfortable with! This goes for massage appointments as well!

Do I need to be an athlete to see you?

Absolutely not! Athletic Therapists and Massage Therapists work with a wide variety of people. If you're a weekend warrior, or just have general aches and pains, we're here to help!

How often should I get massages?

There are many reasons why people come in for massages but how often is another thing. This is dependent on you and what your goals are. If you're looking to improve an injury or treat pain, booking appointments closer together may allow you to reach your goals sooner. If you are looking to decrease muscle tension and manage daily stresses, coming in once or twice a month  may be more your style!

What is the difference between athletic therapy and physiotherapy?

The best answer to this question (that I've found) was posted on Competitive Edge Sport Therapy's Instagram account.

Athletic Therapists (AT's) specialize in the assessment and treatment of  musculoskeletal (muscle, bones, joints, tendons, ligaments, etc.) for all individuals. AT's offer individualized, one on one hands on treatment aimed at returning you to your activity, often stronger and safer than prior to your injury. AT's are highly trained in emergency medical action, injury assessment, taping and bracing, and often work on site at sporting events. We provide care in a clinical setting for injuries that are acute, chronic, pre or post-surgical.

Physiotherapists have a broad scope of practice and educational background including cardiorespiratory, neurological, musculoskeletal and multi-systems. They work to return you to activities of daily living by treating the site of injury. Physiotherapists also work in many different environments such as clinical, hospital settings as well as home care.

What type of payment do you accept?

We accept a variety of different payments such as Visa, Mastercard, Debit (tap only). We also accept online payments as well through our JaneApp! When you book an appointment with us, you have the option of saving your credit card on your file. This can be used to pay for your sessions! Don't worry, when you enter credit card information into Jane, Jane creates and keeps a token that can be used to reference that information. But the actual sensitive information is sent to and stored within their payment processing partner.
